Madina is a New York and Washington, D.C., based associate who specializes in aviation, insurance coverage, and product liability matters. She represents a diverse range of clients, including airlines, airline service providers, airports, insurers, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations, and manufacturers of aircraft and component parts. Her work involves handling various commercial and aviation-related litigations in state and federal courts across the United States.

Before her association with Victor Rane, Madina had an arbitration practice at a major international law firm. She represented both foreign sovereigns and private companies in high-stakes disputes before major arbitral institutions, including the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, the London Court of International Arbitration, and in ad hoc arbitrations under the Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.

Madina is an active member of the American Bar Association, currently serving in the leadership roles in the ABA Young Lawyers Division, International Law Section, and Section of Dispute Resolution. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Madina is a triple-qualified common law and civil law lawyer. Prior to her practice in the United States, Madina had practiced law with several global and national law firms and at a major asset-management company in Russia and Switzerland.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a sovereign client in a successful challenge of the largest arbitration award in history and concurrent enforcement proceedings in more than twenty jurisdictions worldwide, 2017-2024.
  • Represented the claimants in an ICSID Additional Facility arbitration in a dispute concerning the expropriation of claimant’s hotel properties and prepared a winning argument that resulted in an eight-figure arbitration award for the clients, 2018-2024.
    • Award in favor of the clients, followed by the post-award settlement agreement.
  • Represented a sovereign client in an ICSID arbitration in a dispute concerning a shopping complex, 2018-2019.
    • The client obtained the dismissal of nearly 90% of the claimed damages, including the entire moral damages claim.
  • Defended a sovereign client against a $500 million claim, arising from a series of regulatory and judicial measures allegedly taken by different branches of the client’s government, 2018-2019.
    • The case resulted in a favorable settlement.

Community & Pro Bono

  • Represented an asylum-seeker before the USCIS and Baltimore Immigration Court, 2023-2024.
  • Represented the residents of the City of Ferguson in a class action lawsuit filed against the City, alleging various violations of the residents’ constitutional rights. The case resulted in an approval of a $4.5 million settlement (2020-2021).
  • Helped teach a class on investment arbitration at the University of Miami School of Law, 2017-2024.
