Barry Benson brings a wealth of Aviation and Aerospace experience to Victor Rane’s Aviation practice. Barry spent more than three decades at the Department of Justice, Torts Branch, Civil Division. Prior to joining Victor Rane as Senior Counsel, Barry was the Director of Aviation, Space & Admiralty Litigation. Barry is a member of the Colorado Bar, and is associated with the firm’s Washington, DC office.
 
Barry graduated with a B.S. in Air Commerce Transportation Technology with Highest Honors from the Florida Institute of Technology, and cum laude from Temple University School of Law. He is presently working on an LL.M in Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi. Prior to his Department of Justice career, Barry worked in private practice in Colorado, where he concentrated in the areas of aviation litigation and insurance coverage. Barry also served a four-year enlistment in the United States Army as an air traffic controller in bases in the United States and Korea.
 
While at the Department of Justice, Barry worked on many high-profile aviation cases, including In re Air Crash in Lexington, Kentucky (Comair 5191), In re Air Crash in Little Rock, Arkansas (American Airlines 1420), In re Air Crash at Agana, Guam (KAL 801), In re Air Crash near Colorado Springs (United 585), and In re Air Crash Disaster near Cove Neck Long Island (Avianca 052).
